all about the hair

If you know the nut, you know she was born with a full head of black hair. For many months she was the baby with all the hair. The first time we'd meet someone new, the comment was always "look at that hair!" We didn't mind. We liked the hair, even when it stood up straight (which was always).

The dark haired baby slowly morphed into a brown haired girl, but the hair really hasn't grown at the rate I expected. Nevertheless, she's already had several haircuts, which were more like trims. This last one Aunt Marge shortened up her bangs and added two years to her age with a few snips of the scissors.

My baby has a real haircut.

I think she likes it.

Grown-up Little Girl

The more I watch my daughter these days, the more I think she's just a mini-grown-up trying to break free from this 14 month old body. Now that she's clomping walking all over the place, I can just sit and watch her in wonder and awe, usually giggling hilariously. I cannot wait for her to start really talking because I just know she has some thoughts in there that she's dying to share...

Here are some pictures from last weekend. We went to a volleyball tournament and Heidi had a blast running back and forth in the bleachers.

And then she was worn out. Luckily we brought the lucky blanket around. So true that the babies pick their own lovey, you just can't force one on them. She has many tiny "lovey" blankies and animals, but this, the free afghan from the hospital, is her blankie.

(She's faking it, can you tell!)

They say that they grow up too fast. It's true of course. But man, it's so fun being their parents while they grown. Watching her turn into a little person is the best part of my day.

Here fishy, fishy, fishy...

After seeing Heidi mesmerized by a friend's fishtank a couple of weeks ago, I knew I wanted to get the fishtank out of storage and get Heidi her very own fishies.

And she is in love...

Fishy, where did you go?

She very much wants to pick up and hold her new fishies. Hopefully she never figures out how the tank works or we're in trouble.

The apple...

doesn't fall far from the tree. Heidi is 98% her father. Of course, her moodiness she gets from me. But other than that, she's her daddy. She loves to be outside, would spend all day out there if she was allowed to. A couple of weeks ago Heidi had her first trek out into the woods. We all rode out on the 4-wheeler with Daddy to check his deer camera and put some apples underneath his stand. I'm still not sure what she thought of the 4-wheeler (there were lots of "eh-eh" noises), but she definitely liked the woods:

No comment on how big she is looking. We know, we know.
