Love and Baseball

It's a Saturday night (a beautiful one, by-the-way) and I'm sitting home alone, watching the Brewers beating the Reds, 9 to 5. Well, technically I'm not alone, Heidi is upstairs tucked into bed. And she's coughing, the poor love. So anyway, I felt the urge to blog, but couldn't think of a thing to really blog about, so welcome to the most random blog (interspersed with pictures of the most beautiful girl in the world) you'll probably ever read.

Here's my girl, just before she went to bed, all fresh-smelling and P-Jammed

I am a huge sports fan. I'm not sure when this came about, but I know I haven't always been. In fact, as a child, my sister and I were usually booted out of the house when sports were on because we were "too loud." Now, 9 times out of 10, if the TV is on in my house it is on a game or Sportscenter. Every man's dream, right? Unfortunately my darling husband would rather watch the Outdoor Channel, and that is not up my alley at all. At any rate. As recent as my sports affection is, even more recent is my love for the Milwaukee Brewers. I used to be of the school-of-thought that baseball is sleep-inducing kind of boring. But I've found, as with all sports, that the more you watch, the more you become invested in the sport. When you get to the point that you know all of the players names, positions, and batting averages all of the sudden you hate to miss a game. You're listening to it in your vehicle and trying to get it in on the radio in the boat. You're wondering if Ken Macha gets a spray-tan or fake bakes.

These days when I'm not watching the Brewers or counting down the days left of school I'm probably staring in awe at my daughter who has finally learned to crawl! 10 months and 3 days it took her, but she's got it down pat now. And, as soon as she learned to crawl, she discovered how much fun it is to crawl under things...hence her new favorite game:

We have found this game to be most fun when Daddy is wearing these particular flannel pants. She also tries to use Mommy's legs as the bridge, but Mommy is just too short it ends up being more of a head-butting game.

She likes this game so much, in fact, that when we got her birthday present home today and set it up outside (I know, it's still 1.5 months until the big day, but it's an outside present and summer is short in these parts) Daddy decided to use the box to make Heidi her own crawl through tunnel.

As you can see, that was a big hit. For a while, I wondered why we spent $100-some dollars on the actual present when clearly we could have just gotten the box (for free) and had twice as much fun. But Heidi reassured me that the present is fun too...

Sometimes I wonder if it's normal the amount that I love this little girl. You hear about it from other parents, but until you experience it, it really is beyond comprehension. I wonder if I'm the only parent that has a physical pain when their child is crying. I wonder if I'm the only parent who has a near panic attack imagining all of the terrible things that could happen to this perfect child in this crazy world. It definitely is true, parenthood is so hard because it is having your heart live outside of your body. She has stolen my heart...

Keagen's song

This song was made specially for Keagen by a non-profit that makes songs for terminally ill children. We played it as we let balloons go at the cemetary and it made me smile :)

Keagen's song:

He likes to play ball with any kind of ball,
big balls, small balls, footballs and soccer balls.
He runs outside and dances alot,
he does the head bobbing dance more often than not.

He likes to eat food and playing in the dirt.
He always has a big smile for such a little squirt.
He likes nurse angie in the toy room and all,
that's because she likes to play ball.

He's got a twin sister named Kaileigh
and big brothers Triston and Seth.
His mom is Laura and his dad is Dewayne.
His whole family is simply amazing.

Keagen Mathiew Koch.
Everybody loves him no matter where you look.
He's tons of fun for everyone.
Keagen Mathiew Koch

Keagen is the baby of our family.
We all love him it's easy to see.
He loves to play with his brothers and sister.
Keagen is a great kid I'm tellin; you mister.

My reason for smiling...

Looking at this face has made this week so much easier...

We miss you buddy...
