I think I would prefer "Why?"

Most kids Heidi's age, I've heard, have an affinity for asking "why" questions.

Heidi, being the forward thinker that she is, prefers the longer but just as monotonous "where did you get that?" This is pretty much what she says all day long. A book--where'd that come from? An apple--where did you get that? Her fork at dinner--where did you get this fork?

I've tried explaining to her that we pretty much just get everything we need at the store. Hasn't stopped her from asking the question over and over again.
